Surgery Research Fellow

A top performing Foundation Trust and Teaching hospital, we are looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join the Surgery Research Department for 12 months, with possible extension to 2 years.

The successful candidate will be expected to register for a higher degree with the University of Nottingham. Duties will also include participation in the StR level on call rota and some commitments to teaching of clinical medical students from the University of Nottingham.

The team that you would join are a friendly, dedicated and forward thinking. This is a very busy post offering exposure to a wide range of services, teaching and research opportunities. Supervisors have a string track record of supporting post graduate students to award of a higher degree.

The posts are based at the Royal Derby Hospital, which offers state of the art facilities to a local population of 650,000. The department provides a comprehensive General Surgery service and benefits from excellent support services and state of the art facilities with access to a full range of excellent diagnostic and treatment facilities including a 9 theatre operating suite with 3 fully integrated laparoscopic theatres and a robotic theatre suite.

The city of Derby is centrally located with excellent road, rail and air links and within easy access of the Peak National Park. A good range of primary and secondary educational facilities and social amenities are also available.
