Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

Locum Consultant Neurologist with Movement Disorder interest.

The Neurology department at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) wishes to appoint a fixed term (8 month) 1.0 wte Locum Consultant Neurologist (6th), a sub-speciality interest in Movement Disorders would be desirable. The UHDB Movement Disorders service which has International recognition in the field of Parkinson’s Disease (National Parkinson's disease Foundation Centre of Excellence) is supported by a 0.7 wte Consultant Neurologist (currently on mat leave), x2 PD Specialist Nurses, x2 DME Physicians and a multi-disciplinary therapy team.

The Neurology department based at the Royal Derby Hospital incorporates a busy General Neurology service, with sub specialism in Epilepsy, Headache, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Neuro-degeneration (Cognitive Neurology, Motor Neurone Disease) and Neuro-opthalmology. This new post will in the short term cover a period of maternity leave and thereafter facilitate the set-up of a Neurology ward at RDH.

Continuing Medical Education will be through attendance at the educational programme at Nottingham University Hospitals Neuroscience Centre.

The post will be based at The Royal Derby Hospital, Derby but as a newly merged organisation, we expect flexibility to be able to work across all sites of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Foundation Trust should the need arise.
