Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

Are you interested in a career in pharmacy?  Are you excited about information technology?  This may be the position you’re looking for.

In this post you will be working towards a Pharmacy Services Level 2 NVQ qualification to be able to undertake the role of Assistant Technical officer as per the attached job description.

Job Summary:

We are looking for someone to become a member of our Pharmacy Team. The successful candidate will provide support in delivering a high quality service to pharmacy customers.

The role will include:

  • Meeting and greeting people at the reception hatch
  • Accepting outpatient prescriptions
  • Taking prescription charges
  • Stock control and co-ordinating the delivery and collection of prescriptions.

There will also be a focus for this role to be trained as a ‘super user’ for the dispensary robot. The post holder will be trained to tackle any issues that may arise with the day to day operation of the robot and to be able to manage the stock effectively, including loading different types of stock.

The Main Dispensary:

The innovative use of IT is important to us and we are continually looking for new opportunities. We have robotic dispensing, bar-coded prescription tracking and electronic prescribing and discharge systems.

The department is friendly and supportive, operating within a modern environment having gone through a full refurbishment in winter 2017.

Requirements:

This position would suit someone with a keen eye for detail and who is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including other healthcare professionals and members of the public. The ideal candidate will be a good team player, enthusiastic and proactive with the ability to remain calm under pressure.  Excellent IT skills are also a must as there is extensive use of technology within the dispensary.

You will be required to complete the NVQ level 2 and related underpinning knowledge leading to a certificate in Pharmacy Services.

Annual Salaries are as follows:

AGES 16 - Under 18 - £10,707 per annum WTE
AGES 18 - 20 – £12,025 per annum WTE
AGES 21 - 24 - £15,056 per annum WTE
AGES 25+ - £16,053 per annum WTE

The Recruitment Process:

On submission of your application form, our training provider will evaluate your application against the criteria set out in the person specification and the entry requirements of the qualification.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to undertake a literacy and numeracy diagnostic assessment at Derby College.

You will then be advised whether or not you have progressed to the Interview stage.
