Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

We have an exciting opportunity in the Stroke team here at Derby Hospitals.  We are offering a 9 month, fixed term secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave.

This post is based on the acute stroke unit, at the Royal Derby Hospital. We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist with demonstrable post graduate experience including experience in the acute setting and ideally neurology.

You will be required to assess and rehabilitate patients on the acute stroke unit. You will be expected to make effective and timely decisions on a persons rehabilitation potential and need for further therapy provision.

This post offers regular supervision and support with a senior Occupational Therapist. Regular in-service training sessions are available and daily support from team members. You will have the opportunity to develop clinical competencies as part of your appraisal.

This post will offer you the opportunity to develop your skills in this clinical field within a supportive team environment. You will work alongside other therapists in order to support stroke patients in the early stages of the stroke pathway.

You will be required to have excellent communication skills, time management and prioritisation skills to work as part of the multi disciplinary team.

The hours for this post are to cover maternity leave over 3 days (0.62 WTE / 23.25 hours).

This post will also include weekend and bank holiday working.
