Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer training places on the 6th Cohort of Trainee Nursing Associate programme commencing September 2019.

This is an exciting opportunity for our existing Health Care Support Workers to develop whilst gaining a recognised qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. We are looking for individuals who strive to improve patient safety, and experience. If you are looking to develop your career and gain a work related qualification this opportunity could be for you.

The minimum criteria for the role is:

  • Functional skills level 2/ GCSE C or above in Maths & English*
  • Successfully completed NVQ level 3 NVQ/QCF Diploma in Health/ Health and Social Care* or Level 2 with significant experience.
  • Worked as a Health Care Support Worker within the Trust for a period of 12 months
  • You must have your managers support in your Clinical area to undertake this role. In your supporting information you must clearly state that you have discussed this and have the support of your line manager.

 *Certificate evidence will be required for all essential qualification criteria.

You will complete a 2 year formal training programme with one day release at university. You will be assigned a work based assessor who will guide and support you during your journey to becoming a Nursing Associate. Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship you will obtain a Nursing Associate Foundation Degree and will be eligible to progress to a Nursing Associate post within the Trust. It is anticipated that these posts will be NHS TCS Band 4.

During your training you will be required to access placements in this trust* and in the community therefore you must be willing to travel.

*Please indicate in your supporting information which of our 5 sites you would prefer.

The course fees are paid for you by the Trust and you will be salaried on NHS TCS Band 3 during the 2 year training programme.
